There was a special kind of buzz around the Bayside Oceanfront Resort recently. Cameras rolled, lights went up, and the unmistakable energy of live television filled the air as CHEK TV’s Jeff King and Ed Bain joined us for a live taping of Order Up and The Upside.

Both shows celebrate Vancouver Island life — the food, the people, and the places that make this part of the world so unique. Order Up shines a light on local restaurants, while The Upside focuses on positive community stories and local gems. Having them both film right here at the Bayside was something truly special.

A Day of Fun and Filming

From the moment the CHEK TV crew arrived, their energy was infectious. Jeff and Ed were every bit as warm and funny off-camera as they are on screen. They joked with guests, chatted with staff, and made the entire filming process feel effortless.

Our dining room came alive that morning — the ocean backdrop, the scent of fresh coffee and brunch favourites, and the hum of conversation as cameras captured it all. Guests loved getting a behind-the-scenes look at how live TV is made, and the team here had a great time showing off what we do best: relaxed West Coast hospitality.

Featuring Local Art and Flavour

This segment was extra meaningful because it highlighted the rotating art gallery in our dining room, featuring the work of local artist Kelly Corbett. Her coastal-inspired pieces bring warmth and character to the space, and it was exciting to see her art take centre stage on television.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Order Up without a focus on food. Our culinary team prepared some of our signature dishes — the Benedicts that make our Sunday brunch a local favourite, paired with that unbeatable ocean view. Between the food, the art, and the laughter, the day perfectly captured what the Bayside experience is all about.

A Great Experience for Everyone

Hosting Jeff, Ed, and the CHEK TV team was an absolute pleasure. Our guests and staff had a blast — everyone was smiling, laughing, and genuinely enjoying the moment. It was one of those days that reminds you why you love working in hospitality.
